Focal Point Darkroom & Gallery has closed their central Geelong storefront and moved to a work-from-home model. The owner said that “Although the shop is in a great location, it hasn’t resulted in a lot of interest from the public.” The bulk of his customers had found him online.

It officially closed at the start of August. The home office opened a month later.

It opened at this location in October, 2025.

Last week, I shared photos of a new fiberglass prototype of a Early Geelong Footballer bollard. This was one of the designs the council is exploring as part of their plans to replace the bollards.

This bollard is 3D printed prototype on display in the foyer at Wurriki Nyal. There are also two small cabinets displaying test pieces.

This prototype was created by Sykes Advanced Manufacturing, who also created the moulded fibreglass composite. This was was built using large-scale 3D technology from a detailed digital model.

You can learn more at the Councils website.

In August, Tacos y Liquor announced that they would be closing on September 27.

Fortunately, this isn’t a permanent closure – it’s just a temporary one while they “change things up a little to bring you our next culinary venture.” According to their Instagram,

It’ll still be us, at the same location, bringing you delicious food with the smiles you’ve come to know and love, but doing something completely new.

It looks like the new business will be a Thai dive bar called The Snake Pit

I got photos of the original business in 2020, shortly after Tacos y Liquor opened.
