Geelong Is Changing is a blog highlighting the changes occurring in our city.
We lost our identity as an industrial town after a number of key factories shut down and, for many years, the central Geelong district was struggling to attract enough shop tenants. In late 2013, we noticed that there was a strong effort to revitalise this area and inject more creativity. It excited us and, as budding street photographers, we decided to photograph it.
What do we photograph?
We primarily photograph changes in the central Geelong district. We will photograph events, renovations, new artwork: basically anything that intrigues us. We have a strong focus on photographing many of the new changes as part of the Geelong Revitalisation project.
We regularly follow all news about Geelong so we can capture new initiatives while they are being set up. If you have any tips or suggestions we would love to hear them. Email jade@jadecraven.com
Why are we doing this?
We have both lived in Geelong for our whole lives. We love our city. We started noticing that we were going into the city more frequently, instead of going to Melbourne, to do street photography. Each week there was something different. We felt excited about each new discovery. We would go to events and invite our family members. We wouldn’t rush home after doing our shopping.
We started feeling very proud of our city. We realised that others may be doing the same and decided to chronicle the changes we saw.

Who are the photographers?
Glenn Hewett
Glenn loves experimenting with both black and white and street photography. He has a natural talent, despite his reluctance to admit it, and loves capturing the moments that people normally wouldn’t see. He fits in his photography around his full time work.
Jade Craven
Jade started out working behind the scenes and building the website. As the project grew, she would start attending events that Glenn couldn’t attend. She is now the primary photographer and is always looking for new ways to tell the story of Geelong.
