Armageddon Cake

Armageddon Cake was a staple of the Little Malop Street West precinct at 7 Mclarty Place. I visited for the first time in August, 2018, and loved the quirky atmosphere and yummy cakes.
In October, 2018, the Geelong advertiser revealed that it was moving to 64 Malop Street. I got photos of the new storefront in November.
In February, 2020, a sign went up in front of the store stating that the business was closed until further notice. The owner told the Geelong Advertiser that moving to a new venue and a challenging retail climate led to the decision.
Big Ears
Big Ears Bar was a huge hit when it first opened. It was promoted in both the Geelong Advertiser and Forte Mag.
We photographed the premised over a couple of weeks as it was being set up. We shared the pics at New Little Malop Street Bar: Big Ears
In July, 2019, the Geelong Advertiser reported that the venue had to shut down. They had been unable to secure the premises, after long negotiations with the landlord, nor find a separate location.
I returned twice in the following weeks to document the process of removing the store fitout. By August 2nd, it was like it had never been there. You can see the pictures in my post Big Ears Has Closed Down
Burger Johnny
Burger Johnny opened at 141 Ryrie Street in May, 2015. It was forced to close in 2018 when access to Belchers corner was blocked off.
Cabinet Bar
The Cabinet Bar is a Melbourne institution. In May, 2017, the team behind it opened a sister venue at 87 Little Malop Street.
The team closed the venue in December, 2019, to focus on the main Cabinet Bar in Melbourne. I got photos of the closed venue in early 2020.
Chapel Cafe And Bar

Chapel closed in 2020.

Cafe Lorae

Cafe Lorae closed in late 2020 due to unforeseen circumstances. It had been operating for over 25 years.
Cafe Rio
Cafe Rio was a coffee lounge at the corner of Gheringhap and Ryrie Street. The business closed in January, 2020. We got photos in the weeks after they’d left.
Dolly’s Sister Vegan Cafe and Bar
Dolly’s Sister Vegan Cafe and Bar was located at 221 Moorabool Street. The cafe opened in 2015 and closed mid 2018. I only got two photos of the outside of the venue, which you can find here.
Hogs Breath Cafe
Hogs Breath Cafe went into liquidation in 2020. We got photos of the empty venue shortly after it was announced.
Hole In The Wall Cafe
Hole In The Wall Cafe used to run from 104 Little Malop Street. It closed down in October, 2020.
The business later reopened at Raptor Place under new management.
Wholefoods Cafe
Wholefoods Cafe used to run at 2 Baylie Place. I got photos after the business had closed down.
