The Butcher Club had been a staple in High Street for many years. Its closure came as a bit of a shock – especially as it got a new co-owner and manager in 2020.
According to a response from Matt Shelly in the Geelong Community Information Facebook Group,
The Butcher Club took our money for deposit for purchase of the business then didnt transfer or pay the money owing on the lease over $100,000, landlord informed us and as soon as we gave the keys back to butcher club the landlord locked them out for money owing, leaving us without a business and losing 100% of the money we had given them.
There is now a For Lease sign in front of the building.
