In May, 2020, I got photos of the Big Shed building in South Geelong. A townhouse development was planned for the site, but it sat empty for months. I’m not sure whether this was due to Covid issues or if it was part of the normal development.
I visited today and saw that the building had been partially demolished. According to the Construction Update page on the Bottleworks website, demolition started at the beginning of June.
The demolition has unveiled the Geelong Glass Works: a building that been hidden for decades. You can learn more about the history, and what they have planned, at The Bottleworks: Heritage factory conversion to take centre stage in Geelong’s Big Shed redevelopment.
I will be getting more photos as the development progresses.
