Neon Angel Wings
In September 2016, when singer Katy Perry posted an Instagram pic of herself as a ‘luminary fairy’ in front of visual artist Carla O’Brien’s Neon Angel Wings at Nevada’s Burning Man, O’Brien’s work immediately went global. Now she’s bringing her divine wings back home and you too can become a luminary fairy!
The four-metre wide seraphic wings – O’Brien’s signature art piece – feature ‘feathers’ made from LED Neon Flex, and are mounted such that at night time they give the appearance of hovering in space. This allows you to take photos of yourself ‘wearing’ the wings.
Metamorphosis
Metamorphosis is an installation landscape of giant, glowing, musical cocoons. Enter in, reach out and make contact to discover their unique sonic personalities. From realistic insect clicks, chirps and chatters to distorted sci-fi resonance, Metamorphosis is the meeting place of nature and technology.
Inspired by the intricate wonders of the insect world, the cocoons of Metamorphosis are invisibly interconnected. As you explore, you may see a ripple of light pulse through many, or hear the whole field respond in harmony. We are all connected. The cocoons are symbols of hope, and growth; the metamorphosis that is possible when we live in harmony with our community and nature.
Sirens
In Greek mythology, the Sirens were dangerous creatures who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. This projection work is a collection of images gathered over centuries inspired these creatures, their stories, and mythological powers.
Neon Dog Park
Created by Melbourne visual artist Carla O’Brien, this installation invites you to touch and interact with its neon doggies made from LED Neon Flex – a revolutionary replacement for glass neon – on wire mesh and metal frames.
Follow the giant neon WOOF to the Neon Dog Park, where dogs and puppies of all breeds and sizes are having fun, fetching neon balls, running with their tongues out and waiting for you to love them, walk them and take a photo with them! There’s even one fur-baby lifting his leg on a neon tree! And the best thing about the Neon Dog Park is that there’s no poop to scoop!
Lantasia Lights
The sculptural lanterns of LANTASIA Lights were designed to fit the landscape and enhance the natural beauty of the area at their home nestled in the wetlands and gardens of the Mornington Peninsula. Now they are making their way to White Night Geelong for the first time.
The lanterns have been designed by illustrator/designer Tyson Savanah (AKA Father Marker) and handcrafted into metal sculptures, illuminated with LED lights and encased in silk skin. The designs represent the diverse fauna and flora found throughout Australia, with frogs, butterflies, gumnuts and caterpillars all coming to life.
